If I want to change the bp position of all my markers (for example, to upgrade from the 2004 build positions to the 2006 positions), do I need to use the SQL backend to do this? Or is there a front end way to make this change?

Yes. There is a a front end way to update the positions.

You can update the positions for all your markers by reimporting the set. From the Markers navigation choose "Import Set" and select the radio button for "Existing Set".

Given that you have an import file containing your new positions this should be effortless.

Do I have to do this for each marker set individually, or is there a way to do this once for all markers?

    Thanks!

It is necessary in Progeny that you import your markers into a set, but if you wanted to update all of your markers, you can import a super set that uses all of your markers. Thus you would be able to update "All Markers" with one import, and simply delete the set.

This should serve as an effective method for updating "All Markers".

    Thanks for the post!
