We have added the new DNS Server name on all the workstations, but when loging in we are unable to find the database.
I was told we also need to use the same "service name"?
what is that?

There are a number of items on the check list when it comes to moving your progeny service to a new server machine. Check the following items to verify your service connection:
1. Verify that the Progeny Server Configuration Utility (or Sybase Central) has been installed on your server machine.
2. Verify that your database file and log file have been copied over from your old server machine onto your new server, and take note of the .db file location.
3. Verify that a database service has been created in Sybase Central on your new server machine for your .db file.
4. Verify and identify the following service parameters:
a. The name of the service (located after the "-n")
b. The service port (NOTE: if not specified the default port is 2638)
c. The database file location
Ex. -x tcpip (PORT=2640) -n progeny "C://Program Files/Progeny Software/Progeny7/Progeny7Demo.db"
a. progeny
b. 2640
c. C://Program Files/Progeny Software/Progeny7/Progeny7Demo.db
5. Verify the IP address or alias of the new server machine
6. Verify that the service is running (it will have a green light if the service is running, it will be red if it is stopped).
Next check the network connection settings for each of the client PCs. These settings can be accessed and modified from the application login screen by clicking the "Manage" button under 'Network Connection':
1. Verify that you have a network connection created for your new service.
2. Verify the service name is the name you entered for your service connection (ref item 4.a. from above).
3. If you have multiple databases running on the same service, make sure the database file is named not including the ".db" (Ex. Progeny7Demo). If you do not have multiple databases running on the same service, you can skip this step.
4. For the Host Address, verify that the server IP or alias is correctly entered followed by a colon and the port # if the service is running on anything other than the default port of 2638. (Ex. [server IP]:2640)
5. Once these settings have been verified and saved, select your connection from the drop down under 'Network Connection' you will be able to login using your user name and password.
