Hi Ryan,

This type relational data field functionality is not something we support right now. Given our current data field structure it wouldn't be as straight forward of an implementation as you might think. I have added this to our request list, but we don't have any kind of target date on this.

We are doing some R&D on a feature we call "skip logic". Very similar to what you describe except it would be in a limited context of web data capture. For instance, we offer the ability to send web URLs to patients who can then fill out their patient information online before they come in for an office visit saving you time spent on data entry. We are able to implement "skip logic" (a feature that presents one group of data fields as opposed to another based on a value that you enter) in a web environment much more easily that we can for the client application.

Again, this is slightly different than your suggestion, so I have entered this with its own ticket ID C1504. You can contact support an reference this ID for an update at any time.

Thanks for the post.

Progeny 7 Suite

I'm trying to specify two levels of location information for pedigrees as Pedigree Data Fields. Here I'll use the example of 'State' and 'County', each having its own field.
My goal would have each field have a drop down menu. 'States' would have a drop down menu to select from the possible entries. 'Counties' would also have a drop down menu, but the available values would be determined by the value selected in 'State.' Some State/County combinations are meaningless so I want to restrict the possible options to those that reflect reality.
I've tried various combinations of table / dropdown / and lookup tables to no avail. I'm unfamiliar with how progeny would handle a situation like this, any help would be apprecaited.

Thanks
Ryan

Thanks for your post! We have been considering adding this functionality to the software. The feature request wouldn't be added until version 8, which is due out later this year. I will let you know if this functionality is added to the software.

I have a table with some 13000 entries for each suburb. It identifies the suburb name, the postcode and the service area. Is there a way in which I can set the data entry field to locate the required suburb name by typing the first few characters of the name in stead of having to repeatiedly pressing the first character. This is not applicable with so many entries. For example ; It takes 76 * M to reach MU for 'Musswellbrook'.
