Dick,

I'm going to send you an email to schedule a time to review these issues with you. I'm sure we'll be able to figure everything out.

Thanks!

Lianne I wonder if you can tell me some more details about the importing of Cyrillic .fam files. I notice that the genetic status is translated into Progeny as q1, q2,q3,q4. They do correspond to the original Cyrillic symbol, but is there a way in which I can get the Cyrillic description across?? I also noticed that for more complex symbols ,eg q1+q2 or Q1+q2+q3 symbol definition in Cyrillic do NOT come across. ??
On another note, I re-installed the demo version , this time whilst having administrative rights, but I still get the C++ run time error after a few seconds. ie 'The application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way'
I can ignore the error to continue working but when I close the error window Progeny shuts and I loose yet another try-out.

I would recommend that you import all of the Cyrillic files first. Then since you have not entered any new pedigrees/individuals, you can rename the fields in the Import folder. You can also drag and drop those fields into a different field data folder if you want. They do not need to remain in the Import folder. Then you can begin to develop any additional fields that you wish to collect data for in the database.

Thanks Lianne. Found that and now have somewhat 'like' readable pedigree drawings.
Would there be any way I can 'redirect' Cyrillic data to be treated as Progeny standard fields. For example First name and Last name are imported from Cyrillic as forname and surname. Whilst I can rename the fields they do remain as Imported fields.
What I am looking for is setting a standard for creation of progeny data for new pedigrees/individuals and then 'moulding' the old stuff in the same way.
Hope I am making sense to you.
Cheers

Thank you for your post! When you import your fam files from Cyrillic the data associated with the individuals are also imported into Progeny. The fields from Cyrillic are saved in a file in the field warehouse named: Import. You can setup the Individual Data Sheet, Icon Symbols and Icon Subtext to use these fields so that you can view your data again.

Greetings
I am about to start with Progeny for our organisation. Whilst I can see how to start afresh, I am looking for information on how to bring across some 7500 pedigrees with 180000 individuals from Cyrillic.
Importing from Cyrillic gives me just a pedigree outline without individual properties. Anyone been down this road??
