Hi,

An older version of Progeny would allow you to view a pedigree and data spreadsheet simultaneously. This made data entry much faster; name, age, dx, smoking status, whatever.

A new function that would be helpful would be the ability to select multiple individuals in the pedigree and change the vital status of all at one time.

Any chance of returning/adding these functions?

HI

I wanted to create a field to rename the pedigrees in progeny

I have a set of nomenclature for such families (0001-X,0002-X,0003-X,.....0159-X)

but in cases whose family comes from a specific center, I want to rename

for example if the family (0003-X,0008-X,0022-X) have been the "center-one"

I name them in a new field as (0003-X = 0001-Y , 0008-X=0002-Y ,0022-X=0003-Y ...)

occurred to me to do so but that function does not calculate the maximum number of pedigrees or nº pedigrees that have the value "center one"

IF

{prueba\CENTER}='center one'

THEN

INSERTSTR(0,'-F',LEFT(MAX{Pedigree name},4)+1)

ELSE
''
ENDIF

I currently have pedigrees created in Progeny, with peoples' names listed. Is there a way to create a field to just list these peoples' initials (rather than their full name)? If yes, is there a way to set-up the field so that it can take the full names to automatically generate the initials (instead of having to manually type in the intials of every single person on the pedigrees)? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

It would be nice to be able to export out a data dictionary. It could just be the name of all of the fields, the field type, and if possible, the options for drop down fields. If a description could be added when each field is created that explains that field, that description could also be exported in the data dictionary. Funding sources often ask for a data dictionary to see what type of data is being collected for a study. We currently track this in excel and have to remember to update it whenever we change or make new fields.

Hi Lianne,
As we move towards production, I am looking at transferring data back and forth from our internal db to Progeny via XML.

I was looking at the structure of the output XML from Progeny and am slightly confused as to how the data map to the fields. I looked through the schema as defined under the <Database> tag and nowhere is there a definition of mappings that says: "f35 data" maps to <FIELD fieldname="Address 1" fieldtype="text" tabid="Demographics\">

Hi Lianne,
So far so good in the importing of our data into Progeny for the generation of pedigrees. However, I've run into a problem when trying to get data into the cancer diagnosis table. In a nutshell, it isn't working. I've tried doing it as the cancer description string (I have made sure the string that is in the file being imported is in the ICD table), as the icd code, etc., but the data are not being imported into this field. I have also tried adding diagnosis date, again with no luck..

Any suggestions?

P.S. Is there some kind of SQL interface outside of Progeny in which I can write SQL scripts to move data about?

Thanks very much in advance!

I have a table with some 13000 entries for each suburb. It identifies the suburb name, the postcode and the service area. Is there a way in which I can set the data entry field to locate the required suburb name by typing the first few characters of the name in stead of having to repeatiedly pressing the first character. This is not applicable with so many entries. For example ; It takes 76 * M to reach MU for 'Musswellbrook'.

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out if Progeny can handle nested queries in the INDIVIDUAL data spreadsheet.

I would like to query for the mother and father ids for a subset of individuals. But because the mother/father ids are system fields that are UPN, I would need to do a sub-nested-query to map the UPNs to their INDIVIDUAL Names. Since this is two queries, how can I achieve this in Progeny where one is the sub of the other.

In SQL, I would use two SELECT statements; one as a subquery of the other. Can this be accomplished in Progeny?

Thanks,

Symbol 1. Cancertype = CancerA
Symbol 2. Cancertype = CancerB
Symbol 3. Cancertype = Cancer C

Symbol 4. Cancertype != CancerA OR CancerB OR CancerC

I've tried using double and single quotes around the cancer types, but the logic does not seem to get read correctly. I have also tried these without quotes. Is there any way to have this not be read as a string, but as a logical statement?

I was really excited when my undergraduate assistant showed me how to rearrange the columns in a spreadsheet by clicking on the header and dragging into a new position. This is so much easier than un-clicking and re-clicking the little boxes in the spreadsheet fields box! So, I thought I would share this for those of you who are like me and have been using Progeny for a long time, but still don't know all the sneaky little tricks.
